Electro disco meltdown!
James Murphy and Pat Mahoney's awesome Fabric mix
'Fabric Live 36 mixed by James Murphy and Pat Mahoney' out 15th October, steers clear of what anyone might expect of a DJ set from the LCD frontman. There's no punk funk for one, and many of the selections are at least 20 years old: in fact, you could say that this latest mix is as far from the Fabric mix blueprint as possible. But digging deep for tracks classic and obscure, Murphy and Mahoney create an incredible groove narrative that you won't be able to resist.
From Donald Byrd's 'Love Has Come Around' and Instant Funk's 'Mind Made Up', to the future electro disco of Daniel Wang and the DFA themselves, it's sometimes hard to spot the join between old and new - which is all part of the fun. Easily one of the best in the series so far, you need to invest in this gem NOW. And if you're not yet convinced, why not check out the launch party on 25th October at Fabric, where James Murphy and Pat Mahoney will be holding court alongside DFA artist Shit Robot. Tickets are priced at £10, with the night running from 10pm – 3am.
