The Portico Quartet associate comes out strong again after his previous Audio Doughnuts release, this time with more esoteric electronic pulsings. Ward’s style is more about understating the music rather than a “wham bam thank you mam” approach, and all the better for it, with the subtle detailed nuances of 'Squeak' and 'Temperatures' both unravelling after repeated listening. Saying that, 'Cage' gets a little rowdy, but still with a muted quality. Nice.
