Bandcamp is waiving its revenue share for all sales this Friday 20th March, between midnight and midnight PST, in support of artists.

The online music store and platform will not be taking any cut from purchases made, in turn offering a bigger payout to record labels and their artists.  

Kode 9's imprint Hyperdub has also promised to give 100% of March sales on Beatport directly to artists, and has recommended buying this Friday. 

Hyperdub will give 100% of Bandcamp sales directly to the artists impacted by coronavirus this month. 

The London label, run by Kode 9, made the announcement this afternoon via Twitter. The post also encouraged fans to make the most of Bandcamp's own offer to waive fees this Friday 20th March, which will further add to what artists take home. 

Artists have come together to raise money for Australia's current bushfire crisis.

Since September 2019, bushfires have ravaged almost 2,000 homes, and killed at least 25 people and millions of animals. Celebrities and public figures have come together to raise funds since the fires began, including key figures from the Australian electronic music scene.

Midland has shared a previously unreleased track called 'Beyond This' via Bandcamp.

The track notably featured in the DJ's Boiler Room set at last year's edition of AVA festival, and became the source of numerous track ID request following the stream.

Speaking in a post on social media, Radiohead made the announcement that a minidisk archive of recordings, belonging to frontman Thom Yorke, were allegedly stolen last week.

The recordings are from the time of the band's 1997 album 'OK Computer', with the mystery theif reportedly demanding a $150,000 ransom in exchange for the archive.

Bandcamp will open its first physical record store next month.

Set to open in downtown Oakland on February 1st, the 5000-square-foot complex and venue will feature a rolling stock of 99 vinyl records, as well as listening stations and screens that display the 5 million titles that the American online music company currently sell online.

Avalon Emerson has launched a new site called Buy Music Club to help people create and share lists comprised of music available via Bandcamp. 

“DJs and many dance music fans don’t just casually stream music — we buy it, too,” Emerson says in a post on the website. “And since Bandcamp is currently one of the most equitable music vendors online, discovering and buying music there is one of the best ways to support independent artists and record labels.”

She continues: “I buy a ton of music there since it usually gives the biggest cut to the artists and labels.”

Clocking in at 1000bpm, extratone is electronic music’s fastest genre.
