An illegal Halloween rave in central London lasted six hours before being shutdown by the police.

Skirmishes broke out between police and revellers on Saturday night, after officers attempted to prevent hundreds of people from entering the event in Lambeth.

The Met said eight people were arrested during clashes that went on through the night. The rave, which was advertised on Facebook as Scumoween: A Nightmare On Scum Street, was finally closed down at 6am.

Videos posted to YouTube captured violent confrontations between line of riot police and ravers.

Dori Oskowitz has been announced as the director of a new, as-yet-untitled independent film about the ecstasy-fuelled rave movement in Dallas, Texas, during the mid-1980s. 

Rumoured to be titled 'United Ecstasy Project', the new film is one of several to focus on Dallas' brief rave scene, which popped up between 1984 and mid-1985, and was largely focused inside the walls of legendary Dallas nightclub, The Starck Club.

It's been 25 years since Deee-lite debuted with their massive global hit 'Groove Is In The Heart' from their LP 'World Clique', and now some amazing footage from their show at Wigstock in 1990 has surfaced.

Four of the nation’s favourite lost but not forgotten music venues, The Haçienda (pictured below), Wigan Casino, London Astoria and Eel Pie Island Hotel, are the newest additions to Dorothy’s Lost Destination series of prints.

The series, which takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century, celebrates iconic buildings that have since been closed — or worse — totally demolished.

To readers of a certain age, and those who know their UK rave history, the name Dreamscape will evoke memories of a transitional period between free parties and organised raves. As one of the leading ’90s promoters, Dreamscape put on events across the UK, most notably at the spiritual home of the UK rave scene - The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes.

In 1992 there was a festival in the UK that changed the course of dance music history. A culmination of the acid house explosion, it was the rave generation’s Woodstock. But this wasn’t a massive, expensive, licensed outdoor rave with all the biggest acts in dance music on the bill — it was a spontaneous festival that was free.
