The Frankie Knuckles Foundation has shared a video teaser of the legendary DJ and producer's record collection, which is now housed inside Stony Island Arts Bank in Knuckles' hometown of Chicago.
The foundation was set up to protect Knuckles' legacy and raise money and advocate for a variety of causes that were close to the legendary selector's heart, including music in school, LGBTQ youth homelessness, diabetes research, and more.
Foundation has found its way onto the Top 100 list several times with good reason. Small, but mighty, they focus on a combination of state-of-the-art technology with good old-fashioned savvy booking. The lineups are varied, sporting names across genres.
From TJR to Minnesota to Black Tiger Sex Machine, their history shows the venue’s commitment to being forward-thinking not just in fancy lighting and sound rigs (of which they have both), but in the sounds they represent as well. It’s no wonder industry elites like tyDi have given them shout-outs — this warehouse-channeling room is every DJ’s dream.
